Symptoms of Colon Cancer in Dogs

Symptoms of colon cancer in dogs are not much different than they are in dog owners. The problem, of course, is that dogs can't tell their owners when symptoms of colon cancer start to present themselves. The owner has to be on the lookout.

As with humans, symptoms of colon cancer don't appear in animals as soon as the disease begins. But if you notice the symptoms soon enough, dogs can be treated for colon cancer just as humans can.

Here are some symptoms to watch for:

  • Blood or mucus in the stool.
  • Sudden or rapid weight loss.
  • Unusually frequent bowel movements.
  • Vomiting.

If you begin to see one or more of these symptoms, get your dog to a vet as soon as you can.
